The idea for Visitor Center at the Highlands Center for Natural History sprang from the previously designed “Leaf House.” It is a passive solar building that is completely off grid. The “butterfly roof” harvests rainwater, and the sewage is treated through a wetlands system.  It received a LEED Gold Certification.
